Our Collection
Patrons using our library have
access to the entire collection of more than 61,000 items, including
adult and juvenile books, DVDs, music, newspapers, magazines, audio books,
computer software &
more! We have online databases for research and word processing &
spreadsheets on PC's
available to the public. We also have free Internet access!
E-Readers Available for Checkout
E-readers come
preloaded with a wide variety of fiction, mystery, sci-fi and classic
literature for
adults and young adults, as well as biography and non-fiction history,
how-to, self-help, religion,
and current events. As with all our collections, we gladly accept
suggestions for title to be
added to the readers. Sony Readers and Barnes and Noble Nooks will circulate
for a
fourteen-day loan period, with 1 renewal period allowed if no other resident
is waiting, to users
with a valid Lyons Public Library card in good standing. Overdue charges
accrue at the rate of
$5.00 per day. Borrowers must complete a loan agreement accepting
responsibility for any loss or damage to device and cables, and costs of
repair or replacement attributable to a borrower will
be charged to that borrower. All e-readers are due back to the desk from
which they were borrowed; they may not be returned in the book drop or to
another library.
Special
Collections:
The Lyons
Library recently started a collection of Spanish language materials for
young people.
For those
researching family histories, the Lyons Library has a substantial collection
of genealogy materials covering the United States and Europe with a special
emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe.

Access:
Internet
access is available to Lyons Public Library cardholders. Cardholders wishing to use the Internet must sign an Internet
Use Agreement. Cardholders under the age of eighteen must have a parent or
guardian sign the Agreement. At this time, the Library does not filter
the Internet computers.
A Lyons Library staff member will assist students younger than
eighteen who
do not have Internet access but require the Internet to complete homework or
research assignments.
Internet
access is free to Lyons residents. Printing from the Internet is available
for a fee.

Wi-Fi @ the Library
Need to send an e-mail or finish a resume or school assignment? Drop in
with your laptop or other device and connect to our wireless network to get
the job done!
Direct printing is now available.
Just click on the WiFi logo.
Users must have their own equipment, a compatible wireless card or device,
headphones, and software. Applications requiring excessive bandwidth may not
be supported. You can also print from at home and come in to pick up your
print job. The library can only hold the print job for 2 hours.
